June

It seems like summer got off to a pretty rough start almost everywhere. If it's not record heat in the south, it's flooding and tornadoes elsewhere. For us, it's weirdly dangerous air quality. I do wonder, if it's so bad here that we're supposed to stay indoors, how awful must it be in Canada where the fires are actually burning? Yikes. Shouldn't we send some help?

It just looks a little hazy here and every once in awhile you catch a faint whiff of wood smoke. Some members of the household insist on being outside no matter what the conditions.

Less obstinate (and also made of plastic and totally immune to the effects of air quality levels) members of the household found ways to make themselves useful.

Back at the beginning of June, the Crew planted the most important crop. Good thing there are lots of pumpkin patches around because only two have sprouted, so far.

The city extended the "No Mow May" into June and it does seems like there are a few more bees and butterflies around than last year. The field of daisies was cute but it may take all of July to clean it up.

Back in the middle of the month, we celebrated Father's Day. With some excellent supervision, I made His Madness Eggs Benedict for brunch. Since that totally exhausted my daily amount of patience for cooking, we out to a restaurant for dinner.

It was a beautiful evening so we opted to sit by the water. Much to our delight (and I can't lie, we were also very surprised) the restaurant was flying a Pride flag! Maybe there's hope for America after all. A belated Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there and my apologizes for being so tardy in sending out good wishes and support to everyone in the LGBTQ+ community during Pride month.

A week later we came across the first Halloween decor in our area. They might be just left overs from last Halloween but I don't remember seeing the small ones or those stacked jack-'o-lanterns with top hats before. His Madness couldn't pass up the opportunity to borrow one to pose with.

And so, it begins.

Now, as we find ourselves one month closer to spooky season, The Crew has decided to carve up a pineapple for summerween.

Definitely a much different process than carving a pumpkin . . .

. . . but also delicious and very refreshing.

Happy Summerweeen everyone and thanks for stopping by.
Happy Father's Day and Happy Pride Month to all who celebrate.
Stay safe out there!
