Still Winter



 Earlier in the week there was a whisper of spring in the air. The sun was shining, the birds were singing and the next morning we woke up to a foot of snow. Burt didn't mind but then nothing much bothers him anyway.





Oh well, winter can't go on forever . . .  can it?






There was obviously nothing going on in the garden but the kitchen window was looking fairly productive. The micro greens The Crew started on St. Patrick's Day actually sprouted and grew into some very tasty edibles!  





Easy, too. A few snips with the scissor and a quick rinse under the tap and they're ready to eat.





I'm still trying to get my head around the fact that they actually grew into something edible and have a lot of flavor, especially the mustard and radish. So far we've used them to spice up poached eggs, avocado toast, chicken sandwiches and salads. The drawback is having to wait a week for them to be ready to eat and then quickly having to use them up before they're overgrown. It was fun, though a little on the pricey side for the amount of greens you get but definitely worth a trying again.    






Due to this annoying wintry weather, getting out in the garden has been impossible which has led to a lot of online shopping. If the snow doesn't melt soon we could be overrun with hand tools and seeds. 





Kib has been collecting seeds since January. He will most likely misplace them soon and have to buy new ones when it's time to plant.





Since there's not much else to do and it's the 31st of March, The Crew has decided to carve the last pumpkin from Halloween 2022.  Just the thing for a spooky beginning to the Springoween season.





So far it's looking good but we probably won't save the seeds. 





It's hard to look spooky wearing bunny ears. Wait, did I just hear thunder?
