Happy Valentine's Day!

Burt is a big fan of holidays and is always happy for an excuse to celebrate.
This month they have come in such a quick succession that he hasn't been able to keep up!

Ok, maybe he's not so enthusiastic about Groundhog Day. Not that we have any living in our backyard and if there were any they would have had a lot of digging to do in order get out from under all that snow. It's usually around Valentine's Day that I begin to wonder if spring is even a possibility.

There is a groundhog in our vicinity who has been erroneously predicting the onset of spring since 1948. Twelve days ago Jimmy from Sun Prairie didn't see his shadow which forecast an early spring. To be fair he's new to the job and maybe isn't even a local rodent. Last year there was an incident with the mayor that went viral and the authorities demanded a license. This led to the former Jimmy being return to the wild where I like to picture him happily snoozing away in blissful hibernation.

At least sub zero temperatures are a good excuse to partake in the traditional indulgences. After all, there will be some serious shoveling to do when it warms up later today and starts to snow.

We will need a few extra calories to keep up our spirits and stay warm . . .

. . . because sooner or later everything will be coming up roses.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Valentine's Day!

  3. Well at least you've kept your sense of Humor about being snowed in for Valentine's Day... it does look Cozy there by the Fire... but I don't Envy you, the Cold just doesn't appeal to me tho' I do love to look at Snow on Postcards and such... I prefer the Desert becoz I do not have to shovel Sunshine. *Smiles* Of coarse come Summer when we're spontaneously combusting it will probably be Glorious in your neck of the Woods and I'll be stuck inside!? *LOL* Happy Valentine's Day from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian

    1. Ha! I keeping picturing you shoveling sunshine! (It's sparkly, like gold glitter and much lighter than snow, of course) I used to really like winter but lately I've been seriously plotting an escape to somewhere tropical.
To be honest, our summers can sometimes mimic the Amazon rainforest for heat, humidity and bugs so we end up inside too.
