Dressing Up the Mantle

Today, the skeleton crew decided to decorate the mantle.

Last year, I was really happy to find this Halloween mantle scarf and its coordinating runner at Grandin Road. Both items had sold out in 2018 but they were back in stock, on sale and the shipping was free. Who could pass that up?

As wonderful as they looked online they were quite different in real life. The quality of the fabric and workmanship was excellent but the orange was very vivid and the gold patterns were actually metallic. In photographs it doesn't look anywhere near as loud as it actually is and it's way too bright and shiny to be spooky!

This year I ordered one that was more subtle. It's so subtle it's almost a disguise. Clearly, I didn't learn anything from the previous experience.

Burt thinks the mantle scarf would make a chic dress for Ivy and she could use the runner as a shawl.

After seeing the dress, Ivy quickly came up with a plan of her own.

She turned it over so the black backside was showing. Duh! How did I not think of that last year?

It's still a work in progress but it's definitely a lot more spooky.

And now, it's time to get that fly!

Thanks for stopping by, see you tomorrow!
