Oh, no! There's only two weeks left of the Spooky Season! Although, it doesn't exactly apply to us. We keep it going all year round but autumn really adds an extra boost to the vibe.
The weather has been particularly rotten here lately so we thought a movie night was in order and lets face it, we could all use a break from the news! Having exhausted Netflix, Apple and Prime's offerings, we were forced to search through whatever we had on hand from before streaming. There wasn't much and we couldn't remember the last time we'd used the DVD player, either. So we settled on a comedic retelling of a slightly scary story.
Ivy did her best to create a Dr. Frankenstein's laboratory look.
She obviously didn't forget that it's a comedy.
Kibitz wanted to watch a real horror movie but as we have explained to him many times, right now reality is frightening enough for us. Maybe next year we'll watch Halloween, if we survive.
Fortunately, Ivy brought home a bag of Cheetos Bones so the snacks were already taken care of but what about the drinks? A quick search didn't come up with any stunning results. A cocktail seemed too fussy so that left wine and beer.
On Grub Street there's an article that suggests pairing regular Cheetos with a white Sancerre but Bones are different. I think matching any dry white wine, primarily made with Sauvignon Blanc grapes and a salty, highly processed snack, supposedly containing white cheddar, would work well. The acidity actually might help to counteract that special Cheetos build up on the roof of your mouth! Then again, why go out shopping for a specific bottle of French wine to drink with Cheetos when the Prairie Fumé we use for cooking is in the fridge?
In the end it didn't really matter. I personally prefer beer to wine with Bones Cheetos. We had a great time laughing at all the cheesy jokes and His Madness declared it his new favorite movie.
Thanks for stopping by, what's your favorite scary movie?
See you tomorrow!
