On this Friday, just thirteen days before All Hallow's Eve, we will be exploring the cult of death! Bwaaaa Ha Ha!
It all starts here at the Oshkosh Public Museum.
It's a spooky enough place for an exhibit about death.
Although, the museums most famous attraction is this Tiffany stained glass window.
What got us to the museum in the first place was this creepy promotional postcard. The skeleton crew really liked it, too. His Madness volunteers there and took some photos for the displays.
The exhibition was a smorgasbord of death. It began with elaborate Victorian funeral traditions.
Then there were the technical or practical aspects, like this embalming equipment.
(Way more than I really wanted to know!)
Finally it ended up in the realm of the supernatural. Those long cone shaped objects are "Spirit Trumpets", they supposedly amplified the voice of the spirit during a seance. I think I saw one on Washington Island last month, only there it was labeled a "Boat Fog Horn". Interesting.
Those were some of the highlights but I had to include this clown doll because it just fit in so perfectly with the exhibit! It was in an interactive display of items from the museum, one of which was certified by a paranormal investigator to be haunted. You were supposed to guess (or possibly channel the spiritual energy to know) which of the four objects it was. Sadly the little clown was not haunted at all, just creepy.
However, just a few steps away His Madness discovered one of the former housemaids.
Looks like he made a new work friend.
Thanks for stopping by!
