An Afternoon at the Botanical Garden

Wow, the days are flying by!

Since it was such a beautiful day (and probably going to be the last one for awhile), Ivy decided it would be a good time to see what was going on at the Green Bay Botanical Garden. His Madness and I spent an afternoon there last year, I wrote about it here and here, so we were eager to return, too.

It didn't take too much effort to convince Burt to come along.

This summer has been in no hurry to leave and fall is really taking its time showing up. That's okay, as long as the temperatures stay below 80 F. we can handle it.

Currently, there's a huge renovation project underway in the children's garden. A couple of the paths have been changed, revealing parts of the garden we were totally unaware of before!

How did we miss this beautiful woodland area?

It was a couple of weeks later, when we visited last year and the fall color was at its peak.

At least some of the roses were looking autumnal.

Still, it won't be long before it all turns red and gold.

Except maybe these grapes. They look ready to pick though.

All the summer annuals seem to be surviving the cold under the pergola in the cottage garden.

This isn't just a pumpkin arbor, there are passion vines, sweet peas and wisteria growing on it too. Maybe even more than that. Why haven't I thought of planting several plants instead of one or two?

There's nothing like a shady spot, overlooking a pretty view on a warm fall day.

It was a beautiful day for wandering around in a garden. Sunny, but not too hot.
We ended up at the test garden, which was not looking its best at the moment but they were growing black cherry tomatoes! How perfect for Halloween? I wonder what they taste like?

Thanks for stopping by, see you tomorrow!
