His Madness and I took a short road trip today.
We had a stowaway who was disappointed with the snacks, but he got over it.
It was such a beautiful day that we decided to take back roads and luckily didn't spend the whole trip behind a milk truck or camper!
His Madness had one of his photographs accepted in a show at the public museum in Green Bay. He was eventually able to deliver it to the curator without it being eaten by a dinosaur. Maybe we should've shared the grapes with them?
The Neville Public Museum is one of those institutions that's part science exploratorium, part local history oddities with some works of art. At least there's something for everyone!
We just discovered that in October the staff give tours of their most gruesome stuff. Wish I'd know about that sooner! At least we got to check out the exhibit which included metal coffins, Victorian amputation instruments, a cat mummy, and a lot of other things that made my flesh crawl.
One of the things that really stood out was this collection of Uranium Glass. I inherited a couple of pieces from my grandma but gave up on collecting more because it was so hard to find. Plus it needs an ultraviolet light to make it glow. It does look eerie though and could be fun to display at Halloween.
What has to be the creepiest item in the exhibit was this dress. Around 1850 there was a very popular color called Sheele's Green and producing it required arsenic. A doctor in Germany calculated that a dress like this one would contain enough arsenic to end the lives of about 180 people! Talk about dressed to kill, ha! There seems to be a green theme going on in this post.
Do these two look familiar? Oh, no!
Thanks for stopping by, see you tomorrow!
