A Jack-O'-Lantern Spectacular

The Skeleton Crew is taking the day off while His Madness and I pay a visit to a spooky zoo.

Andy and Kristin were kind enough to take us down to Providence, Rhode Island to walk through the Roger Williams Park Zoo Jack-O'-Lantern Spectacular.

It definitely lived up to it's name!

Over 5,000 carved jack-o'-lanterns line the zoo's wetland trail.

There's music and special lighting effects, too as well as loads of these intricately carved portrait pumpkins. I can't imagine how long it must take to create one.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get a good photo of the special effects that illuminated the landscape and covered everything with tiny points of shimmering light. There was also an eerie fog clinging to the ground beneath the trees.

Since we're in New England, there had to be a tribute to Jaws somewhere.

At each end of the trail skeletons were getting into all sorts of trouble. They seemed to be involved in way more catastrophes than Burt and Ivy ever have.

It was huge! I've never seen anything like it and definitely worth the trip.

There was even a astronaut kitty, waiting to make us feel guilty.

Thanks for stopping by, see you tomorrow!

  1. A Jimi Hendrix fan!!! I really should try and find a Jack o' Lantern display. Jack o' Lanterns go hand-in-hand with Halloween. But first, a visit to Youtube to view the Hendrix clips.
