Carving Pumpkins

Since Halloween is tomorrow, we can't put off carving those pumpkins into jack-'o-lanterns any longer! Let's hope they don't end up as blood spattered as the one in Sleepy Hollow.

Ivy is all prepared to transform the pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns.

And Burt is all prepared to watch.

First, they had to take a moment to check out this photo Kristin sent. Andy and Kristin were celebrating their anniversary in New Hampshire and ran into one of Burt and Ivy's friends at their hotel. What a small world!

One of the first steps in the process is gathering the tools. The Official House Pumpkin Carving Knife lives at the far end of the knife holder because it normally only gets used once a year. This year was an exception, we carved up a lot of different fruits and veggies into jack-'o-lanterns for no good reason at all. It was fun though.

Ivy's certainly got her work cut out for her.

Removing the top off the first pumpkin revealed a spider web of slippery seeds.
Why do the insides of pumpkins always look so spooky?

Two down, two to go!

It was a long afternoon that stretched into evening.

There were a few slips with the knife but the only obvious loss was a fang.

Thanks for stopping by, see you tomorrow!

  1. Our Jack O'Lanterns didn't last 'til Halloween as we had an unseasonably Hot Fall and kept triple digit temps thruout October, so they shriveled up and molded and I had to toss them out and go with the faux Pumpkins.
