So What Happened to all the Halloween Decorations?

With only three weeks left in October, it's probably time for me to give up on finding any special items to add to this year's Halloween decorations. I'm sure it's due to all sorts of problems caused by the pandemic so hopefully, whatever evil forces were at work this year will be fixed by next fall!

Since I am always on the lookout for Halloween decorations, His Madness likes to remind me of the absurdity of it all by modeling potential purchases on his head. Finding a store fully stocked with decor is always the goal but this year it was nearly impossible. No matter where we went the shelves looked like a picked-over, end of season sale. HM had to settle for wearing a wreath on his head! Not that he minded but those aisles were bare. (This before we had to wear masks again.)

A few weeks after the first try, I resumed the Halloween hunt and found the shelves had been restocked with lots and lots of duplicate skeletons! Who would think they were so popular?

Then there was the end cap of giant skulls!
(The best part about this guy was the "try me" battery coming out of his nose!)

This is what At Home had for sale at the end of July. The next aisle over was packed to the ceiling with Christmas ornaments. Where are their priorities and why didn't I buy that rug?

By the middle of August a few hints of Halloween merchandise started to show up in the stores. Still, there wasn't anything unusual or unique, even the decorations themselves looked bored. It appears that the witch in the gray couldn't even be bothered to look up from her phone.

In September I started to panic. Kirkland's had a lot of fall stuff but not much Halloween.

At Joann's everything was already on sale.
Not that having everything on sale was a bad thing but there wasn't much there to begin with.

In the end a small independently owned store came to the rescue with a great selection of decorations that I couldn't have found anywhere else. Not that I really needed anymore decorations, it's the principle!

Even with my hoarding urges satisfied, that didn't stop the ongoing search! On a recent trip to Home Depot for plumbing parts, I discovered light-up witch hats! HM knew the drill.

It appears he has passed down the trait. Like father, like son!
(and the hats stayed at the store)

Thanks for stopping by, see you tomorrow!
