. . . and yet weirdly, it still seems like summer.
In an attempt to give an autumnal appearance to our backdoor, Burt and Ivy have added pumpkins and mums to the summer plants. Definitely a weird combo but it will probably snow in a couple of weeks so we can live with it until then. We could always move the pink plants over by the pond, duh.
However, there are still plenty of other places in the backyard where the plants aren't moving and it's still definitely more summer than autumn.
This dahlia does have an orangey-yellow center.
So does the mandevilla. Honestly, I don't really mind summer hanging as long as it's not hot and humid. It would be nice to have a long autumn and skip winter altogether.
It appears Ivy has come up with a solution. There's nothing like a witch on a broom to remind us what season it is.
Burt had an idea, also. He took a few minutes to string orange lights on the fence. When it gets dark maybe we can convince ourselves that it actually is fall.
Then he switched out the pink flamingoes for the black and orange ones. He's looking pretty pleased with himself and also a little like a creepy stalker.
Although it's pretty hard to tell anything from this photo, after the sun went down and the orange lights came on it was a little less like a summer evening. Maybe more like a horror movie?
The witch was cute and a little spooky, too.
Thanks for stopping by, see you tomorrow!
